Camping

Ian went on his first camping trip and stayed in a hotel for the first time this week.  It was a combination vacation, birthday and anniversary trip.  It was also Ian's first time running, biking and eating at a restaurant.

Hanging in the hammock

We camped for two nights in Little River State Park in Vt.  It is a great park to visit and is pretty central if you want to hike, canoe, kayak, fish, explore small towns and visit the city.

Ready for bed

We explored some small towns and walked around Burlinton on our first day there.  We visited North Beach and the Burlington Recreation Path.  It is really a pretty cool little city with lots to do and see.

Looking at the trees with Daddy

I liked running!
We otherwise hung out at the campground.  Ian loved looking at the trees and swinging in the hammock.  He went for his first few runs while at the campground and really seemed to like it!  Overall, he was a great little camper.

Before our quick ride....I hated it!

Lounging at the hotel

On our last day, we explored the Stowe area, attempted to ride on the recreation path, but opted to walk it, had dinner at a restaurant and went out for ice cream for my birthday.

Back to reality, we are home!

It was a very long trip home with stop and go traffic.  NOT fun with a baby who likes to move.  We had so much fun camping, but are glad to be home.

Two Months Old

Showing of my double chin and silly half grin
Ian is two months old today.  He is really strong.  He likes to stand with a little support and can hold his head up really well.  He does not enjoy belly time, but is beginning to tolerate it a little more every day.
Getting better at tummy time!
He is still not a napper....at least not in his own room.  He is happy to nap in a carrier or in your lap. He is doing great with sleeping in his own room at night.  He usually sleeps for 6 hours before waking to eat, then going back down for another 2 or 3 hours.  Overall, he is a pretty easy going baby. He is usually happy and is beginning to babble quite a lot. When he is in a really good mood, he will carry on a "conversation" for quite a while.

I just love the last picture.  I can't get enough of this boy!

Six and Eight Weeks

Right now, I am very thankful that it is summer and that Ian was born when he was.  He is six weeks old this week and if school was in session, I would be headed back to work and he would be headed to daycare.
Happy to be home from Pony Club camp
I am working hard on getting Ian on something that resembles a schedule.  He does really well at night, going to bed around 9:30, waking to eat around 2:30 and then sleeping until 5.  I am really happy with the night time schedule.  Lately, it is the day time schedule that has me stressed.  He is much more alert, but is fighting nap time like nobodies business!  If I hold him constantly, he will nap.  If I put him down, he insists he is starving (even if he ate 20 minutes earlier).  Figuring out when he is really hungry vs. just wanting to be comforted is a work in progress.

Ian is a little traveller already.  He spent 2 nights visiting his cousins in Berwick and went to the beach for the day.  He attended the pony club dressage rally to watch Milo compete and went swimming for the first time.  He slept through the beach and the rally and was not impressed with the cold water.  He didn't mind trying on the life jacket:)  Hopefully, he enjoys paddling the kayak near  shore with his mommy.

Trying out my new life jacket

Ian is now eight weeks old.  The last few weeks have been busy, busy, so I never got the pictures uploaded for the six week post.

Pudgy Patriot
Over the 4th, and during a little heat wave that followed, Ian visited a couple of different lakes.  As long as the water isn't too cold, he enjoys it.

Smiley boy!
Ian is very smiley these days.  I am able to get a smile from him pretty reliably by making silly faces or noises.  He is also very strong.  He prefers to sit up, supported, so that he can look around. He has no trouble with head control.  He will also put quite a lot of weight on his feet when in a standing position.

My serious face
At eight weeks, he has taken a few good naps, but really, he is a nap fighter.  He does very well at night, usually waking between two and four to eat, then going right back down.

Fun on the lake with my family
He is most definitely mommy's cuddle bug, and I love that...most of the time.  He is beginning to stay with Greg for longer stretches, but is pretty fussy while I am away.

Floating with mommy
It is so hard to believe that he is almost two months old.  We are so blessed to have this little love bug!

One Month

Ian is one month old!  He had a doctor's appointment today and weighed 10 pounds.  He sure loves to eat!

Here are some pictures that I took on his one month birthday.  So cute!

Here is some evidence of how cooperative he was for most of the day.....three different times throughout the day.  All I wanted was a picture of him at one month with his eyes open.  He didn't think that was such a great idea.

Four Weeks, Lots of Faces

Ian is growing too fast!  He still spends a lot of time sleeping, and is doing great sleeping in his bassinet at night.  However,  he now makes so much noise while sleeping, grunting, groaning, and humming, that I am thinking of moving him Greg's office space instead of having him sleep next to our bed.

He has much longer periods when he is awake and when he is awake, he is so much more alert.  He makes all kinds of faces now.

He almost always has his hands by his face.  That stated in utero, so I am not really surprised.

Ian loves to look at his animal pictures on the wall above his changing table.  I think he mostly looks at the picture of Gauge because of the contrast.

He is almost always hungry.  I bet you can't tell by his chubby cheeks and double chin.

He is really beginning to enjoy floor time and really likes his mirror.  He isn't a huge fan of being on his stomach, but he tolerates it for a while.

Three Weeks

Ian is three weeks old and is growing like crazy!  It seems like he changes every day.  His eyes are quite blue and his hair can't seem to make a decision at this point.  Some days it looks brown and straight, other days it looks blond or red and has a little curl on the top.

He loves to eat and is really fighting anything longer than a two hour feeding schedule during the day.  Luckily, he is sleeping for four hour stretches at night.  He prefers to sleep in the Mamaroo, aka the "spaceship" but is beginning to tolerate naps in his crib or bassinet for longer stretches.

Ian was quite cranky and awake most of the day during our little heat wave.  The only thing he enjoyed about the 90 degree weather was not having to wear clothes for 3 days.

Overall, he is awake a lot more often.  We try to get tummy time and reading in while he is alert.

He is really a good baby.  He goes to the barn almost every day and has been to the university to have lunch with Daddy. He even hung out at Pony Club for the day last weekend.

Two Weeks Old

It's hard to believe that Ian is two weeks old already!  He is getting so big already and has changed so much.  He is becoming more and more alert during the day and is sleeping better at night (most nights).

Gauge can't get enough of Ian!  He has to know where he is all the time and runs right over to him if he makes a noise.  Moose really couldn't care less about having a baby in the house.

Ian got a ton of great books at his baby shower.  I have been reading to him every day.  Mostly, he just kind of hangs out while I read to him, but in the last few days, he has started to look at the pictures.  He does very well focusing on pictures with high contrast.

Memorial Day was the only day that it didn't rain since being home with Ian.  We took advantage of the sun and took our first trip as a family.  Ian isn't quite ready for any big hikes, so we drove to Acadia and walked on Sand Beach and then some of the carriage trails around Jordan Pond.  It was a bit chilly and fairly crowded, but it was nice to get out.  Ian did really well on his first big outing!

Greg is back to work this week and we already miss him.  We are attempting to get back onto a regular schedule.  I am back to doing evening chores at the barn and have even started working out lightly.  Hopefully, I will be able to begin running and riding again soon.  I am dying to get back in the saddle!

Love watching Ian with his daddy!
